Kloie Hart was born in the 90s & grew up in the suburbs around Paris Mountain. Since the age of 4, her love for animals began. Her parents had taken her to a petting zoo where there were ponies, goats, chickens, & more! She had a wonderful time being surrounded by those sweet souls. A year or so later, her grandparents took her to a county fair in the mountains that had wild animals like rabbits, snakes, & hawks. These two encounters gave her the answer to the commonly asked question, “What do you want to be when you grow up?” She was convinced she’d be an equine veterinarian, a park ranger in the Smokies, or somehow a mix of both! As Kloie got older, she wanted to travel all over the world seeing native animals in their natural habitats, but also help sick domestic animals back home.
The years 2009 through 2011 were quite memorable for her. She adopted a cute little mutt named Banjo, started pet sitting in her neighborhood, & began weekly horseback riding lessons. Kloie’s first pet sitting clients were two of her neighbors’ pets: an orange tabby cat named Emmy & a gray cockatiel named Pepper. For her weekly lessons, she rode a fuzzy, old chestnut pony named Chester.
Fast forward seven years! Kloie graduated high school a year early from the South Carolina Governor’s School for Science and Mathematics. At that point in her life, however, she didn’t want to be a veterinarian or park ranger anymore, & like many, had no clue what to do with her life.
Starting in the Fall of 2019, Kloie decided to give the animal hospital a try. She began college courses in the veterinary field, while working at Travelers Rest Animal Hospital as a kennel technician. During her first semester, she took veterinary labs at Greenville County Animal Care & worked part-time at the hospital caring for pets being boarded. For her second semester, she had to do an externship at an animal hospital. Thankfully, the animal hospital she was working for allowed her to train alongside their wonderful licensed veterinary technicians & doctors of veterinary medicine. Then March 2020 happened…
Kloie stopped working at the animal hospital to focus on her college degree. She tried working for Rover.com, but hardly received any clients, & the platform overall isn’t really for professional pet sitters. She wanted to show the citizens of Greenville County that she was a serious pet sitter, very reliable, & would care for their pets as her own.
Within the past few years, Kloie has attended Clemson University for a B.S. in Wildlife Biology, managed the ins & outs of a well-known pet sitting & dog daycare company, & is now ready for business! She took a handful of business courses in college & has studied zoological concepts, which added to her pet sitting business preparation.
One thing you might wonder: does Kloie love domestic or wild animals more? After many encounters with both, she simply can’t choose! She knows that she can care for pets in both categories & give her clients peace of mind, whether they’re simply at work or on a relaxing vacation. She’s had many pets of her own, such as dogs, gerbils, & turtles. As a pet sitter & outdoor enthusiast, she’s been around cats, chickens, goats, snakes, horses, parrots, you name it!
